Technology and e-learning in science and mathematics
Research in this area within DCU has shown that the use of hand held dataloggers in practical work gives the student instant data analysis of experimental measurements in real time and greatly contributes to their understanding. Further research has been carried out in SPCD on the efficacy of computer based learning environments, video-conferencing, and micro-worlds. The area of e-learning in science has great potential for development, underpinned by research outcomes, has great potential for development.
Current projects include:
- Classroom response systems for third level teaching and assessment (Eilish McLoughlin, Odilla Finlayson)
- LabView instrumented experiments in Physics (Eilish McLoughlin).
- Technology and E-learning in Science and Mathematics
